Duck, duck, SYNTAX ERROR

In the upper panel, a duck stands thoughtfully before a typewriter, surveying a manuscript.
Narrator: Originally, duck typing was a pursuit reserved for only the most educated of canards.
In the lower panel, two vignettes show ducks at work as narrator continues:
Narrator: But it was soon coopted by power-mad computer scientists for their own mallardious schemes.
1) Two ducks stand pecking at food, chained to the ground, wearing signs draped across their backs to indicate their type, while a third duck in a hard hat looks on.
